Delete account & data
Last updated: 8 August 2026
This page explains how to have the data stored about you in SafeZone deleted. The provider is ESBM-Solutions UG (haftungsbeschränkt) i. Gr.
1. SafeZone has no user account
SafeZone has no registration, no email address and no password. Instead of an account, the app creates a random device identifier the first time you use it. That identifier is the only technical link between your reports and confirmations and your device. There is therefore no account that could be deleted — but there is data belonging to that identifier.
2. Deleting in the app (recommended)
The quickest route is the app itself: open Settings → My data and tap “Delete my data”. After a confirmation prompt, the following is deleted immediately: all your reports, all your confirmations and your device identifier on our servers. The app then resets its local data (identifier, settings, cached map tiles) and behaves as if freshly installed. A new identifier — one that cannot be linked to the old one — is only created the next time you report or confirm something.
There is nothing to wait for afterwards and no confirmation email: the deletion is complete the moment you tap. An active subscription is not affected (see section 6).
The same section, Settings → My data, also shows your device identifier and copies it to the clipboard with a tap — you only need it for the email route in section 4.
3. Deleting only the data on your device
Uninstall the app. This is not a replacement for section 2: it removes only the local data, while reports you already sent stay on the server for the time being (and expire there according to the periods in section 5). It removes the device identifier, all settings (language, warning categories, warning radius) and the locally stored subscription status from your device. Access to the previous identifier is then irrevocably gone; reinstalling creates a new, unrelated identifier.
Turn warnings off. If you only want to stop background location use, switch the notifications off under Settings → Warnings in the app, or withdraw the location permission in your device’s system settings. The app then monitors no areas any more.
4. Deletion by email (fallback)
If you cannot use the route inside the app — for example because you have already uninstalled it or no longer own the device — write to support@esbm-solutions.com with the subject “SafeZone deletion request”. The only data stored on our servers is: your reports (category, attributes, location, time), your confirmations of other people’s reports, and your device identifier as a hash together with an internal trust score. We process requests within 30 days.
Important: because we deliberately store no contact details, we can only match a request if you tell us your device identifier. You will find it in the app under Settings → My data; note it down or copy it there before you uninstall. Without it there is no technical way to determine which reports belong to you, so we cannot carry out the deletion (Art. 11 GDPR). In that case uninstalling the app is normally enough: the link between you and the data no longer exists, and the reports are deleted automatically anyway (see below).
5. What is deleted automatically anyway
| Type of data | Deletion |
|---|---|
| Reports (category, attributes, location, time) | permanently deleted no later than 90 days after the report |
| Confirmations of other people’s reports | deleted together with the report they belong to |
| Your device location when reporting | never stored (used only for the plausibility check) |
| Location queries for the map, warnings and help | never stored and never logged |
| IP addresses | never stored and never logged |
| Device identifier (hash) and trust score | deleted immediately in the app or on request; otherwise kept until the purpose no longer applies |
What remains from deleted reports is an anonymous monthly statistic containing only category, month, count and a coarse map cell (roughly 0.1 km²). It allows no conclusions about you or your device and is therefore not covered by the deletion.
6. Note on subscriptions
An active subscription (“Ad-free” or “Supporter”) is not cancelled by deleting your data or uninstalling the app. Cancel it through your app store account: in the Apple App Store under “Subscriptions”, in Google Play under “Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions”. Purchase and payment records are kept by Apple and Google separately from us for the statutory retention periods.
